Hi there!
I’m Valter Antunes, a wedding photographer based near Lisbon, Portugal. Before photography, I was a professional musician, having played with some of Portugal’s most renowned artists. I studied music in London at the BRIT School and Westminster University.
My journey into photography happened by accident—I bought a camera to capture my children’s early moments and soon discovered my passion for storytelling through images. Fourteen years ago, I started photographing weddings, and I’ve never looked back. Weddings are my sole focus because they are what I truly love.
Together with my wife, Paula, I founded Fotolux, and since then, I’ve photographed around 700 weddings across Portugal, Europe, and the USA. My work has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including European Wedding Photographer of the Year 2020 (FEP), Photographer of the Year 2021 (This is Reportage), and Portuguese Photographer of the Year 2019. I’ve also been in the Top 10 Fearless Photographers for the past few years and have proudly represented Portugal in the World Photographic Cup for seven consecutive years.
